Let's Write Something Profound
What will the new year hold for me, for you? It's a blank page. In fact, there will be 365 blank pages. I'll write my story one day at a time, and I'll make each page interesting. Well, as interesting as I can. I'll make sure to find some sort of adventure. I'll travel by train. Meet new people, perhaps. And I'll show love to these people. Well, as much as I can. People can be hard to love at times. But I will try my hardest to love, in spite of them, and me. I'll learn something new. I'm not too good at sports, but I may try tennis. Again! (Laughing). I might even try a new recipe. Lord knows I'm tired of chicken. These blank pages will offer many possibilities. Happy New Year!
Coming in 2026, the sequel to Secrets of the Harvest. The working title is Ezekiel. Here's an excerpt...
We built a little juke joint that was a bit more upscale than Chauffeurs Inn. On the other side of Shaws Creek, so when the rain came and flooded our side, folks could still get out of the house and have a good time. Free their minds from the boss, the babies, and the bills. We tried to fix it so that when people got dressed up on Saturday night, they could feel special. We had chandelier lights and porcelain fixtures in the bathroom, shiny floors. We didn't have a dress code, but the men always wore their best suits, and the ladies looked magazine beautiful. Not taking away anything from Chaffeurs, but our place was special. We built it right off the paved main road. The boys and I gravelled up the parking lot so our shoes didn't get dusty when it was dry or muddy when it rained. Mae Frances told me to bring Melanie's grand piano to the bar, and I did. At first, I felt bad memories, but after a while, all we reminisced about were her tall tales of city life and good times. Love has a way of making you feel better through uncomfortable moments.
