An Impressive Walk by the Lake
I took a stroll around the Lake today
I treasured each step along the way,
My eyes witnessed nature at its best.
Thrashing the half-hidden pathway lay.
Bugs and other crawling creatures engaged in work and play.
I saw flighty birds and swimming ducks,
Unbothered squirrels while visitors fished nearby.
I walked to the water's edge and caught a glimpse of a reflection of some clouds in the sky.
I saw the most beautiful high-hung wisteria vine, fancying herself, flirting between tall pine trees.
Wearing the majestic color purple
And dancing in the breeze.
I sat for a while on a bench made for lake walkers like me.
I sit a spell enjoying God's theater in the open air,
I observed the best of nature while sitting there.
Broken tree limbs, remnants of our past storms.
Like the people who walked past me, offering me a greeting with a nod or a smile... some warm.
Some of them are broken, like those branches, but still managing to hang on.
It's too early to tell what Spring might bring, though.
Some trees are still naked, and the flowers are not fully dressed.
But I'm fairly certain that Spring will come, and I will still be impressed.
