Saturday Night With That Girl

That Girl

The juke-joint was packed, and the music bounced off all four walls. That girl danced as brazenly as she dressed.

That girl’s skirt was so short and tight that it melded to her body like sweet potato skin.

That girl’s face was shamelessly made up. It glistened with sweat and tears from the laughter and good times.

That girl’s lips were blood red with rouge, but her eyes sparkled like the stars dancing in the midnight sky.

That girl seemed to like the sounds of that “devil music” because she sang along as her body moved, twisted, and turned with every beat.

That girl danced and sang her heart out that Saturday night. But come Sunday morning, That Girl was ready for church to sing in the choir for the Lord.
