Goodbye Summer
I’m not too particular about Summer!
Even with the scenic view of the upstate mountains,
Small town décor and flowing fountains.
The parks and the Vista’s nightlife scenes,
The inner waterways of rivers and streams.
A sporadic rain shower,
That may last just an hour.
Crowded sandy beaches on Carolina’s coast,
With the scorching sun, one will likely roast.
I dare venture out into the hell named July
To be attacked by a mosquito, red ant, or fly.
But somehow, Summer’s end leaves bittersweet memories of cookouts, family reunions, engaging fun,
As we transition into Fall with a generous reprieve from the cruelty of the Summer sun.
